NIGERIA GOVERNORS’ FORUM MOURNS BUHARI, DESCRIBES HIS PASSING AS A GREAT LOSS TO AFRICA

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who died in London on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the NGF described Buhari’s death as a monumental loss to Nigeria and the African continent, noting that his passing marks a significant depletion in the rank of Africa’s all-time great leaders.

“Muhammadu Buhari was not just a former President or military leader; he was a national political icon with profound moral courage, character, and an unwavering sense of duty,” the statement read. “He will be remembered for his humility, strategic patience, and modest lifestyle.”

The Forum extended its heartfelt sympathies to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the loss of a close ally, predecessor, and fellow party stalwart.It also offered comfort to the former First Lady, Her Excellency Mrs. Aishah Buhari, and the entire Buhari family during this period of grief.

Furthermore, the Forum expressed solidarity with the Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency Dikko Umar Radda, and the people of Katsina over the loss of their illustrious son.

The NGF prayed for Allah’s mercy on the late President, asking Almighty God to ease his account, expand and illuminate his grave, admit him into Al-Jannah Firdaus, and grant the family and the nation the strength to bear the loss.
