In a renewed effort to bolster inter-agency cooperation against drug trafficking and other transnational crimes, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral Michael George Oamen, Grand Service Star (GSS), on Wednesday, 6 August 2025, received the Director of Seaport Operations of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN) Archie-Abia Ibinabo, at the Command Headquarters in Apapa, Lagos.
The courtesy visit, according to both parties, was aimed at deepening operational synergy, especially in intelligence sharing and joint maritime security operations between the Navy and the NDLEA.
While addressing the gathering, ACGN Archie-Abia Ibinabo underscored the need for sustained collaboration to effectively tackle the trafficking of illicit substances through Nigeria’s seaports and maritime corridors. She commended the Nigerian Navy for its pivotal role in safeguarding the nation’s waters and for its consistent support in ongoing anti-narcotics efforts.
Rear Admiral Oamen, in his response, welcomed the NDLEA delegation and reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to fostering robust inter-agency relationships. He lauded the Director of Seaport Operations for her proactive engagement and reiterated the Navy’s readiness to support joint initiatives that reinforce national security and maritime integrity.
The visit was rounded off with a ceremonial exchange of souvenirs, symbolizing the shared resolve of both agencies to enhance strategic collaboration and uphold mutual trust in service to the nation.
