NAVTRAC FOC CONTINUES FAMILIARIZATION TOUR, VISITS NIMASA, POLICE, IMMIGRATION IN PORT HARCOURT

As part of his ongoing familiarization tour, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC), Rear Admiral RO Obeya, undertook a series of courtesy visits to key stakeholders in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, 16th July 2025.

Rear Admiral Obeya commenced the day’s engagements with a visit to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Eastern Zone, where he was warmly received by the Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Umar Sidi, alongside senior officials of the agency. Mr. Sidi lauded the Nigerian Navy’s dedication to maritime security and its role in combating illicit activities within Nigeria’s waters. He described the Navy as a dependable partner in the agency’s mandate and praised the sustained collaboration between both institutions.

The FOC then proceeded to the Rivers State Command of the Nigerian Police Force, where he met with the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju. The Police Commissioner congratulated Rear Admiral Obeya on his recent appointment and emphasized the significance of inter-agency synergy. He expressed his readiness to strengthen cooperation with NAVTRAC in achieving mutual security objectives, describing the Navy as a valued partner in progress.

Rounding off the day, Rear Admiral Obeya visited the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Rivers State Command, where he was received by the Comptroller, CIS Abdulmajeed Ibrahim Yabagi. CIS Yabagi acknowledged the critical support the Navy provides in immigration-related operations, particularly in coastal surveillance and maritime border security. He also expressed a commitment to bolstering ties with the Naval Command.

In his remarks at the various institutions, Rear Admiral Obeya thanked his hosts for the warm receptions and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration. He also underscored the availability of the Navy’s specialized training schools for the capacity development of personnel from sister agencies.

The FOC’s engagements underscore the Nigerian Navy’s strategic intent to deepen partnerships with key security and maritime agencies for enhanced national security and regional stability.
