The President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu, has reaffirmed the association’s commitment to strengthening welfare, sustainability, empowerment, and unity among military families across the country.
Mrs Shaibu made this known during the NAOWA General Meeting, where she welcomed members and emphasized the importance of consolidating executive deliberations aimed at advancing the association’s objectives.
She noted that the meeting provided an opportunity to reinforce unity and renew commitment to the welfare and progress of NAOWA members nationwide.
The NAOWA President disclosed that the association had reviewed its programmes and examined reports from Coordinators and Chairpersons, assessing both achievements and existing challenges. She commended members for their sincerity, depth of engagement, and sense of responsibility, describing the presentations as evidence that NAOWA remains structured, focused, and forward-looking.
Outlining the association’s guiding principles, Mrs Shaibu identified four key pillars: welfare, sustainability, empowerment, and unity with accountability. She stressed the need to prioritize the well-being of members, widows, and vulnerable families through organized and responsive support systems. She also underscored the importance of financial self-reliance through sustainable initiatives, as well as economic empowerment via cooperative programmes, vocational training, and capacity-building efforts.
On unity and accountability, she called for harmonious collaboration, clear communication, transparency, and adherence to established procedures. Mrs Shaibu reiterated her vision of building a united and innovative NAOWA that supports military families through self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods, noting that such a vision requires discipline and commitment at every level.
She urged all chapters to diligently implement the resolutions reached at the meeting, translate plans into measurable action, and maintain regular communication to avoid working in isolation.
Mrs Shaibu concluded by appreciating members for their cooperation and dedication, expressing confidence that NAOWA would continue to consolidate its achievements and expand its impact nationwide.
