NAF Restores Welfare Airlift to Boost Support for Frontline Personnel

By Bavoriat Clara

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reinstated its welfare airlift service to improve support for personnel deployed to frontline theatres, easing their ability to travel home and maintain family connections.

Approved by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the renewed initiative provides regular and structured air transport for troops serving in various operational areas. The arrangement is designed to reduce the strain of long deployments, minimise travel difficulties, and enhance the emotional well-being of personnel.

According to the NAF, the welfare airlift has already begun to yield positive results, offering relief from operational pressure and helping to reinforce the psychological stability required for sustained mission performance. The service described the initiative as a critical component of its broader effort to strengthen support systems for troops serving under demanding conditions.

Air Marshal Aneke noted that welfare-focused interventions such as the airlift contribute significantly to morale, resilience, and overall operational effectiveness. He stressed that ensuring the emotional stability of personnel is essential to achieving the NAF’s vision of smarter and more effective airpower projection.

With the reinstatement of the welfare airlift, the NAF emphasised that the well-being of its frontline personnel remains central to mission success and to its contribution to national security.
