Officers of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have taken part in the second edition of the Eyeball Summit, a strategic forum convened by the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria, aimed at advancing eye care delivery across the country. The summit brought together key stakeholders, including industry leaders, innovators, investors, regulators, and practitioners within the eye health sector, to foster dialogue and promote collaborative solutions to emerging challenges.
The summit, themed “Reimagining Eye Care in Nigeria: Driving Innovation, Expanding Access, and Securing the Future of Vision,” provided a platform for discussions on strengthening Nigeria’s eye health system.
Participants emphasized the growing importance of visual health as a vital component of public health, economic productivity, and overall social wellbeing.
NAF officers at the event highlighted the critical role of optimal vision in enhancing operational readiness and ensuring the safety and effectiveness of personnel, particularly in high-demand military environments.
Their participation underscored the Nigerian Air Force’s increasing commitment to supporting multidisciplinary initiatives that contribute to human security and national development. The officers also reaffirmed the Service’s support for efforts aimed at reducing preventable vision impairment and improving access to quality eye care services nationwide.
The engagement aligns with the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, who continues to promote professionalism, inter-agency collaboration, and comprehensive personnel development within the Service.
The Nigerian Air Force says it remains committed to contributing to strategic national platforms that enhance resilience and support sustainable development.
