The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a Special Intervention Project (SIP) in Beeri, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, as part of efforts to deliver sustainable social services and strengthen civil–military relations across the country.
The project, inaugurated on 11 December 2025, was executed by a retired senior officer, Air Vice Marshal B.L. Keenam, under the directive of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS). It includes the construction of a 500-capacity school assembly hall at Beeri High School and the commencement of a three-day medical outreach for residents of the Beeri community.
In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Service said the newly completed assembly hall would address the long-standing lack of a standard multipurpose facility in the school. Prior to the intervention, school assemblies, examinations and other activities were held outdoors, often disrupted by adverse weather conditions.

The facility is expected to significantly improve the learning environment by providing a safe and functional space for academic and extracurricular activities.
The statement added that the medical outreach was designed to improve access to essential healthcare services, especially for vulnerable members of the community. Services provided include medical screening, distribution of drugs and medicated eyeglasses, as well as the provision of crutches and walking aids, aimed at early detection and treatment of illnesses and easing the healthcare burden on families.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff, the Chief of Civil–Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, described the intervention as a non-kinetic approach to national security, intended to build trust and cooperation between the Armed Forces and host communities. He noted that such projects directly impact the lives of ordinary Nigerians and complement military operations by fostering goodwill. He also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information, assuring them of the NAF’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
The commissioning ceremony, coordinated by the Civil–Military Relations Branch, drew several dignitaries, including the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Training Command, retired senior officers of the Armed Forces, the Chairperson of the Defence Intelligence Officers’ Wives Association, Mrs Jane Undiandeye, the Royal Father of Beeri community, and other stakeholders.

In his remarks, the project facilitator, Air Vice Marshal B.L. Keenam (Rtd), thanked the Chief of the Air Staff for the opportunity to contribute to community development. He said the project reflected the Nigerian Air Force’s enduring commitment to education, healthcare and grassroots development, adding that the facilities would serve as a lasting legacy for the Beeri community.
The Royal Father also commended the NAF for addressing critical educational and healthcare needs in the area and wished the Service continued success.
