The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has brought renewed vitality and relief to residents of Anipupo Community in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State with the commissioning of a Special Intervention/Quick Impact Project comprising 30 solar-powered streetlights, an industrial borehole, and a 35,000-litre water storage facility.
The initiative, inaugurated on 26 August 2025 in honour of Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Timothy Marquis, reflects the NAF’s unwavering commitment to strengthening Civil-Military Relations (CMR) by enhancing the living standards of rural communities while deepening trust, cooperation, and intelligence-sharing that are crucial to national security.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar—represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Ibikunle Daramola—emphasized that the Nigerian Air Force remains committed not only to defending Nigeria’s airspace but also to improving the quality of life of the people.
“Projects like this resonate deeply with our non-kinetic operations. By providing clean water and lighting up the community, we are not only improving livelihoods but also reinforcing the bond of trust between the Nigerian Air Force and the people we serve,” the CAS stated.
In his remarks, Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Timothy Marquis expressed profound gratitude to the NAF leadership for what he described as a transformative gesture in his hometown. He noted that the intervention symbolized what collective effort can achieve, urging the community to safeguard and sustain the facilities for long-term benefit.
“This initiative should not be seen as a short-term intervention but as a seed that must grow into lasting development,” he said.
The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Mr Ola Oresanya, hailed the project as a “shining example of partnership that transforms lives.” He commended the CAS for extending the initiative to Anipupo Community, stressing that the provision of solar-powered streetlights, potable water, and storage facilities aligned with the state government’s grassroots development agenda.
“This project underscores the kind of collaboration and partnership that can transform the lives of our citizens. It aligns perfectly with our vision for sustainable growth and improved living standards in Ogun State,” the Governor stated.
Governor Abiodun further lauded AVM Marquis for his dedication to national service and to the welfare of his people, while calling on residents to utilize the facilities responsibly and continue working with security agencies to maintain peace in the state.
The event drew wide attendance from community leaders, stakeholders, and residents, further reinforcing NAF’s growing role in driving community development and supporting the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda beyond its core military responsibilities.
