The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Special Intervention Project (CAS SIP) in Adobu Community, Patani Local Government Area of Delta State, as part of its sustained commitment to winning and retaining the hearts and minds of the people.
The project, executed by a retired senior Air Force officer, underscores the NAF’s people-centred approach to national security and community development. It was sanctioned by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, under a nationwide initiative that encourages senior officers to give back to their communities. The intervention involved the renovation and remodelling of the Adobu Community Town Hall, as well as a free medical outreach for residents.
According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the remodelled town hall has been upgraded to improve its aesthetic appeal and functional value. The facility is expected to serve as a central hub for meetings, cultural activities, civic engagements and community decision-making, thereby strengthening local administration and social cohesion.
The free medical outreach, conducted alongside the renovation project, provided residents with access to essential healthcare services. It enabled early detection of illnesses, addressed urgent medical needs and reduced the financial burden of healthcare on families within the community.
Speaking at the event through the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the CAS described the initiative as a key component of the NAF’s civil-military relations strategy aimed at deepening public trust and enhancing national security. He urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence, assuring them of the NAF’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
In his remarks, the project executor expressed appreciation to the CAS for the opportunity to give back to his community, describing the intervention as a symbol of the enduring bond between the NAF and the Nigerian people. The commissioning ceremony was attended by a representative of the Delta State Governor, retired senior military officers, traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders
