NAF C-130 Ferry Flight Completes Safe Transit to Banjul

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the safe continuation of a C-130 aircraft ferry flight that earlier conducted a precautionary landing during its transit for scheduled depot-level maintenance. The aircraft departed Accra, Ghana, in line with an updated and approved flight plan and landed safely today in Banjul, Gambia.

In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Service clarified that the aircraft is en route to Portugal for routine depot-level maintenance. The statement explained that such ferry flights are conducted through designated international airfields, with movements carefully planned and appropriately spaced in accordance with established aviation safety procedures and international regulations.
The routing of the aircraft includes planned technical stops across West Africa and North Africa, with Casablanca serving as a subsequent transit point before arrival in Portugal. The earlier precautionary landing was executed strictly as a safety measure and did not constitute an emergency.

Following standard technical inspections and operational clearances, the aircraft was confirmed serviceable and cleared to resume the mission. All aircrew and support personnel onboard are safe, and the aircraft continues to operate within prescribed performance parameters.

The Nigerian Air Force expressed appreciation to the civil aviation and host authorities in Ghana, The Gambia, and other countries overflown for the cooperation and support extended to the crew during the transit. The Service also acknowledged the concern and goodwill expressed by Nigerians and reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and operational excellence.
