The Honourable Minister of Defence, Retired General Christopher Musa, has presided over the maiden edition of the newly introduced Monthly Operational Briefing at the Ministry’s conference room in Abuja.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, retired Colonel Timothy Antigha, the Minister, in his opening remarks, highlighted the prevailing threats to national security and urged the Chief of Defence Staff and the Service Chiefs to intensify efforts and devise new, practical strategies to ensure the timely eradication of terrorism, insurgency, and banditry across the country.

General Musa commended the professionalism, resilience, and gallantry of Nigerian troops in ongoing operations nationwide. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing troops’ welfare and strengthening the operational efficiency of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The Minister also addressed concerns regarding the presence of the United States Africa Command in Nigeria, clarifying that American personnel are in the country strictly in a training assistance and advisory capacity. He assured that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain fully in command of all operations conducted within the nation’s territory.

The maiden briefing provided an opportunity for the Minister to review ongoing military operations and offer strategic guidance to the Armed Services in line with national security objectives.
