The National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the rights, dignity, and inclusion of older persons in Nigeria. This was emphasized during a familiarization visit by the House Committee on Delegated Legislation, led by Rt. Hon. Olufemi Richard Bamisile, to the Centre’s headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking during the visit, the Director-General of the NSCC, Hon. Omobolanle Akinyemi-Obe, expressed appreciation to the Committee for its continued support and interest in the implementation of the NSCC Act. She noted that the visit provided an important opportunity to deepen collaboration towards ensuring that the welfare and wellbeing of senior citizens remain a national priority.
Hon. Akinyemi-Obe reaffirmed the Centre’s resolve to build an age-friendly Nigeria where every senior citizen is treated with dignity, respect, and care. She emphasized that the NSCC remains committed to promoting policies and programmes that recognize the value of experience, celebrate the wisdom of the elderly, and protect their rights across all sectors of society.
In his remarks, the Committee Chairman, Rt. Hon. Olufemi Richard Bamisile, commended the efforts of the NSCC in championing the cause of older persons and pledged the Committee’s continued legislative support to strengthen the Centre’s mandate.
