The Federal Government has pledged its full support to the Amana Farmers and Grains Suppliers Association of Nigeria (AFGSAN) to enhance food production and ensure sustainable food security in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, gave the assurance when he received a high-level delegation of AFGSAN led by its National President, Alhaji Haruna Ahmad Pambegua, on a courtesy visit in Abuja.Senator Akume acknowledged the association’s critical role in food production and assured that the present administration is committed to providing the necessary support.
According to him, their requests will be tabled before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for consideration, stressing that empowering AFGSAN would further boost national food security.
The SGF commended the association for its contributions and highlighted ongoing government efforts to revolutionize agriculture through mechanized farming. He disclosed that new tractors and trucks had been procured, while dams and rural roads were being constructed across the country to enhance agricultural productivity.
He urged AFGSAN to support government efforts by publicizing these initiatives to the wider public.
Earlier, Alhaji Haruna Ahmad Pambegua, National President of AFGSAN, applauded the Tinubu-led administration for implementing transformative policies and programmes that have positively impacted Nigerians.
He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting the Federal Government in achieving sustainable food security.He also appealed for the provision of tractors, fertilizers, and other farm inputs at subsidized rates to boost members’ capacity in production, supply, and distribution of agricultural produce nationwide.
