The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government. He congratulated Nigerians at home and in the diaspora on the milestone, describing it as a day of pride and reflection.
According to a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister urged citizens to uphold the values of patriotism, unity, and resilience that have sustained the nation since independence in 1960.
He further called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which is geared towards national rejuvenation, economic advancement, and shared prosperity.
Tunji-Ojo expressed optimism that with collective commitment, Nigeria will continue to progress in peace, development, and growth. He wished all Nigerians a joyful and memorable Independence Day celebration.
