The Federal Government has announced the cancellation of the parade earlier scheduled to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary on Wednesday, 1st October 2025.
In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, the government emphasized that the decision does not in any way diminish the importance of the Independence celebration.
According to the statement, all other activities lined up to mark the 65th Independence Anniversary will proceed as planned.
The government expressed regret for any inconvenience the cancellation may cause and appreciated the understanding and cooperation of Nigerians, members of the diplomatic corps, and invited guests.
It further urged citizens to continue supporting the reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, aimed at building a stronger and greater Nigeria.
