The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Assessment Team has commended troops of OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) for their commitment and professionalism in sustaining pressure against terrorists and criminal elements operating in the North-West and parts of the North-Central region.
The commendation was given by the team leader, Major General W.B. Idris, during an operational assessment visit to the OPFY Headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Monday, 15 July 2025.
According to Major General Idris, the visit was aimed at evaluating the ongoing operational efforts, strengthening inter-agency cooperation, and ensuring that field operations align with the strategic objectives of the military and national security goals. He praised the synergy among the various security agencies working under the OPFY umbrella and acknowledged the difficult conditions in which the troops operate.
“We are here to ensure that our strategic goals remain on track and that our troops receive the necessary support to dominate the battlefield,” he said.
He urged the troops to maintain the current operational tempo and emphasized the importance of collaboration among all security actors and stakeholders in the region.
The Theatre Commander, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, described the DHQ team’s visit as timely and encouraging, noting that such engagements help boost morale and operational efficiency. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining momentum in the fight against insecurity.
In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of OPFY, Captain David Adewusi, the DHQ Assessment Team also visited frontline troops in Kwotorkoshi and Tsafe, located in Bungudu and Tsafe Local Government Areas of Zamfara State. During the visits, the team leader interacted with troops and commended their resilience and dedication to the mission.
The visit is considered an important step in validating field efforts and reaffirming the government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability across the affected regions.
