The Honourable Minister of Defence, His Excellency Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who died on Sunday in London.
This was contained in a statement signed by Patience Ituke, Principal Superintendent Press (PSP), for the Director of Information and Public Relations, Ministry of Defence.
The Minister described the former President’s death as a monumental loss to the nation, noting that Buhari served Nigeria with uncommon dedication, discipline, and a deep sense of duty. He recalled the late President’s unwavering commitment to the unity, security, and development of the country.
“On behalf of the Ministry of Defence and the Nigerian Armed Forces, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the government, and the people of Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the Minister said.
He further stated that President Buhari’s legacy of integrity, patriotism, and his relentless fight against corruption will continue to inspire generations of Nigerians.
“May Allah (SWT) grant him Aljana Firdausi and give his family, loved ones, and the entire nation the strength to bear this great loss,” the Minister prayed.
President Muhammadu Buhari served as Nigeria’s civilian President from 2015 to 2023, and earlier as Military Head of State from 1983 to 1985. He was widely respected for his strong leadership, principled governance, and lifelong commitment to national service.
