The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to intensifying military operations in Katsina State and across the country.
General Oluyede gave the assurance when he visited the Acting Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Faruk Lawal Jobe, at the Government House, Katsina, to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the recent banditry attacks.
In a statement issued by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, the COAS stressed that immediate and improved measures were being put in place to prevent a recurrence of the unfortunate incidents that claimed lives and property.
He further appealed to residents of Katsina to continue cooperating with security agencies in the collective effort to defeat bandits and secure the Nigerian space.
Responding, the Acting Governor appreciated the COAS for the visit and assured of the continued support of the state government and people to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.
He highlighted the state’s heavy investment in the security sector and pledged to sustain such efforts until peace and stability are fully restored.Alhaji Jobe also commended the Nigerian Army for its dedication to duty, timely response to distress calls, and overall contribution to tackling insecurity in the state.
He further lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for his consistent commitment to security in Katsina State and the nation at large.
As part of his three-day operational tour under 8 Division/Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the COAS received a briefing at Natsinta Barracks from the Commander 17 Brigade, Brigadier General B.O. Omopariola, who outlined the Brigade’s operational activities, challenges, and future projections. General Omopariola assured that his troops would intensify operations to consolidate security gains in the state.
In his remarks, the COAS commended the Brigade for their efforts and encouraged them to make further sacrifices in securing the state and the nation.
He assured the troops of enhanced logistics support to enable them discharge their duties effectively.Continuing his operational tour, General Oluyede visited troops at the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Federal University Dutsinma, where he urged them to remain steadfast in protecting the institution and its environs while denying bandits freedom of action.
He also visited troops at the FOB in Safana, charging them to intensify operations and deal decisively with bandits and other criminal elements within their area of responsibility.At the FOB in Malumfashi, the COAS reiterated his directive for troops to go all out to clear bandits and eliminate criminal activities across the state.
He reassured the soldiers of his commitment to their welfare, logistics support, and provision of operational platforms to ensure they carry out their tasks seamlessly.
