The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has ordered troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to intensify ground and air operations aimed at rescuing the students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
General Shaibu issued the directive on Monday, 17 November 2025, during an operational visit to Kebbi State, where he met frontline commanders, troops, and community stakeholders.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YANMA, Captain David Adewusi, the Army Chief charged troops to conduct intelligence-led missions and maintain an unrelenting, day-and-night pursuit of the perpetrators. “We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” he declared.
During the visit, the COAS also interfaced with local vigilantes and hunters, describing them as key partners in the ongoing search-and-rescue efforts. He urged them to work closely with security forces and use their deep knowledge of the terrain to track and disrupt criminal groups. “Together, we will restore peace and ensure children can attend school safely,” he said.
General Shaibu earlier paid a condolence visit to the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji, reassuring them of the military’s unwavering commitment to locating and freeing the abducted students unharmed.
