The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has praised the officers and soldiers of 130 Battalion and 341 Artillery Regiment in Ogoja, Cross River State, for their resilience and steadfast commitment to national security. He encouraged them to continue making sacrifices in service to the nation.
In a statement released by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, the COAS made the remarks on Tuesday, 9 September 2025, during an operational visit to Godwin Ally Barracks in Ogoja. The visit was part of his ongoing assessment tour of Nigerian Army formations and units under the 82 Division’s Area of Operational Responsibility.
During the visit, General Oluyede inspected key facilities, engaged with troops, and commended their dedication in the face of operational challenges.
Reaffirming his commitment to troop welfare, the COAS revealed ongoing efforts to upgrade barracks schools to ensure quality education for soldiers’ children.
He also ordered the immediate renovation of dilapidated living quarters to enhance the comfort of personnel and their families.
General Oluyede emphasized the Army’s focus on improving both living and working conditions under his leadership.
He highlighted the recent increase in the Ration Cash Allowance, which has enhanced feeding provisions, and urged soldiers to reciprocate by maintaining excellence in duty.He also announced plans to issue new uniforms and essential kits to all personnel as part of a broader effort to standardize operations, boost morale, and reinforce his “Soldiers First” philosophy.
The COAS called on troops to uphold discipline and professionalism while fostering stronger collaboration with sister security agencies and local communities, stressing that unity is key to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
