The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has charged instructors and officers of Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo, Osun State, to rededicate themselves to quality training and professionalism in line with his vision for a more capable and combat-ready Nigerian Army.
General Oluyede gave the charge on Monday, July 21, 2025, during his maiden operational visit to the training institution.
He emphasized that effective training remains the bedrock of a strong and responsive army, adding that every recruit must be molded into a disciplined, well-trained soldier who embodies the values and spirit of the Nigerian Army.
Addressing instructors and personnel, the COAS urged them to demonstrate passion and commitment in their duties, with a focus on capacity building, integrity, and excellence. He maintained that the output of the Depot directly impacts the overall operational efficiency of the Army, stressing the need to maintain high standards in both physical and character development.
During the visit, the Army Chief also undertook a tour of training facilities and key infrastructure within the Depot. He inspected ongoing projects and assessed the condition of classrooms, accommodation, and training grounds, assuring that necessary upgrades would be made to enhance the institution’s ability to deliver on its mandate.
The visit, according to a statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, forms part of the COAS’s broader efforts to strengthen training institutions and reposition the Nigerian Army for greater effectiveness in the face of emerging security challenges.
