Abubakar, has restated the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening security across the North-West as he participated in the North-West Zonal Security Summit held at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall in Kaduna.
The summit, convened by the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on National Security, brought together key leaders to discuss the region’s security challenges and explore collaborative solutions.
In a statement by his media aide, Mati Ali, the Minister reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, anchored on national security, unity, and community resilience. He said the President envisions a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria where mutual tolerance and respect guide national cohesion.
Badaru highlighted the progress made in strengthening interagency cooperation among security institutions, emphasizing that securing the nation is a collective responsibility requiring the active participation of citizens, communities, and state governments.
He commended governors for their logistics support, early-warning mechanisms, and community engagement efforts. The Minister also praised traditional rulers for building trust, women and youth groups for their vigilance and recovery efforts, and religious and civil society leaders for countering misinformation and promoting peace.
Reiterating the President’s directives, Badaru called on the Armed Forces and security agencies to sustain efforts in intelligence sharing, interagency collaboration, and the protection of schools and rural communities. He also applauded the Senate for organizing the summit, describing it as vital to national dialogue, transparency, and accountability in the security sector.
The Minister assured that the Ministry of Defence would continue to work closely with all stakeholders to promote stability, build community confidence, and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda across the North-West.
The event was attended by the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, representatives of other governors, traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, civil society groups, and other key stakeholders.
