The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala, has joined the global community in commemorating the 2025 International Day of Peace, themed “Act Now for a Peaceful World.”
Observed annually on 21st September, the International Day of Peace was established by the United Nations in 1981 as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among nations and peoples. It serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to promote tolerance, cooperation, and non-violence in a world faced with persistent conflicts, humanitarian crises, and security challenges.
In his message to mark the occasion, Air Marshal Bala noted that peace goes beyond the mere absence of conflict, describing it as the promotion of harmony, cooperation, and compassion. He stressed that while the Nigerian Air Force’s primary duty is to safeguard the nation’s airspace and ensure operational readiness, its mandate also includes deterring aggression, fostering stability, and providing humanitarian support during emergencies and natural disasters.
According to him, through international collaborations, joint exercises, and strategic partnerships, the NAF continues to build trust, deepen cooperation, and contribute to global peace and security.
Air Marshal Bala further highlighted that beyond military operations, the Nigerian Air Force actively nurtures a culture of peace by empowering communities, promoting dialogue, and strengthening Civil-Military Relations that prioritize respect, protection of civilians, and shared prosperity.
He reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian Air Force to promoting peace, unity, and understanding, emphasizing that a safer and more harmonious world is possible when humanity acts together with sincerity of purpose.
