The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has stated that with every promotion, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) becomes stronger in resolve, smarter in strategy, and more resilient in service to the nation.

In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Chief made the remark while congratulating Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) recently elevated to their next ranks, effective 1 September 2025.

Air Marshal Aneke noted that the promotion exercise, conducted in line with the Service’s annual cycle, reflects the NAF’s enduring commitment to professionalism, morale building, and personnel development — all of which are essential to operational excellence.

Describing the elevation as more than an administrative process, the CAS said it represents a defining moment that reinforces the core values of merit, discipline, and dedication. “With every promotion, we build a smarter, more resilient, and more dedicated Air Force,” he declared, adding that each newly promoted airman and airwoman symbolizes renewed strength and national confidence in the Force’s mission to defend and serve.

He emphasized that the 2025 NCO promotion exercise was transparent and merit-based, in keeping with the standards of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He assured that other qualified personnel who have completed the required technical or professional courses would be considered in subsequent mustering and upgrading exercises.

While congratulating the newly promoted personnel, Air Marshal Aneke urged them to view their advancement not only as recognition but also as responsibility. “Promotion is not just about rising in rank; it is about rising to greater expectations,” he said. “You have earned this through hard work and sacrifice — now is the time to give even more to your country and to the Service.”

Reaffirming his leadership philosophy rooted in motivation and mentorship, the CAS stressed that morale remains a decisive factor in achieving operational success. According to him, a well-trained, well-equipped, and highly motivated workforce is central to the Nigerian Air Force’s mission readiness and overall combat effectiveness. “Our personnel are our greatest asset,” he remarked. “When they are motivated, our operations become sharper, our decisions smarter, and our impact greater.”

Air Marshal Aneke further underscored that a motivated and well-trained force is critical to sustaining the NAF’s operational advantage in modern warfare and protecting Nigerian citizens from emerging security threats. “When our personnel are inspired and adequately equipped,” he said, “their precision improves, their resolve strengthens, and their contribution to national defence deepens.”

The 2025 promotion exercise, he added, aligns with the NAF’s broader vision of institutionalizing professionalism through a deliberate balance of training, welfare, and career progression. It also highlights the Service’s commitment to grooming the next generation of leaders capable of sustaining operational efficiency and strategic innovation.

As the new ranks take effect, the Air Chief reaffirmed that the NAF remains steadfast in building a Force defined by professionalism, patriotism, and purpose. “Let your new ranks reflect greater humility, responsibility, and dedication,” Air Marshal Aneke charged. “Together, we will continue to soar higher — for the flag, for the Force, and for the future of our nation.”
