Troops of Operation UDO KA, working in collaboration with other security agencies, have sustained operational momentum in the South-East under the ongoing Operation Eastern Sanity, recording notable successes in Enugu and Ebonyi states.
In Enugu State, troops of the 82 Division Garrison, deployed at Akama in Ezeagu Local Government Area, acted on credible intelligence regarding a kidnap attempt along the Akama–Iwollo Road. The troops swiftly pursued and engaged the suspected kidnappers, successfully rescuing four abducted individuals.
The rescued victims were identified as Chisom Kingsley and Chuoke Chinedu, both from Akama, Jonathan Paul Chukwu from Akwa Ibom State, and Patience John from Taraba State. A motorcycle and a vehicle were also recovered during the operation, while the victims and recovered items were handed over to the Nigerian Police for further investigation.
In a related development, troops of Sector 2, Operation UDO KA, carried out a follow-up operation in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State based on intelligence obtained from the earlier arrest of a suspected insurgent commander, Chinedu Igautu, also known as “Calamity,” and four of his associates.
The operation led to the arrest of another suspected member of the IPOB/ESN network, Chisom Agashi Ogadego, also known as “Baron.” Preliminary investigations revealed his alleged involvement in kidnapping and other criminal activities.
The suspect reportedly provided information that aided the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, magazines, and ammunition within the area.
The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing operations against criminal elements.
