The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to intensifying intelligence-led air strikes against terrorist and bandit elements, as part of efforts to sustain decisive operational pressure nationwide. He made this known during a strategic visit to Bauchi State on April 29, 2026, where he also directed commanders to maintain zero tolerance for complacency in ongoing operations.

In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the CAS, while addressing personnel at the Headquarters Special Operations Command and co-located units, emphasised the need for alignment between strategic directives and operational execution.

He described the Command as pivotal to safeguarding national sovereignty, stressing that all missions must remain intelligence-driven, precise, and outcome-focused to effectively neutralise threats.

Air Marshal Aneke commended personnel for their resilience and dedication, noting that their efforts have contributed significantly to recent operational gains and improved responsiveness to emerging security challenges. He urged troops to sustain professionalism, high morale, and synergy with ground forces, adding that every mission must deliver measurable impact in the fight against terrorism and banditry.

During the visit, the CAS conducted a comprehensive inspection of operational equipment, facilities, and critical infrastructure to assess readiness and identify areas for improvement. He emphasised that sustained operational effectiveness depends on the optimal condition of platforms, systems, and support structures, while also assuring personnel of ongoing efforts to enhance welfare through improved accommodation, upgraded infrastructure, and continued investment in training and modern technology.

As part of efforts to strengthen civil-military relations, the CAS paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Dr Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, where he highlighted the importance of community trust in achieving lasting security.

The Emir commended the Air Force for its role in protecting lives and property, while the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Idris, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining high operational tempo in line with the CAS directives.
