The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, has intensified its offensive against terrorist elements in the North-East, carrying out a precision air strike that eliminated several fighters in the Yuwe axis of the Sambisa Forest.
The operation, conducted on 19 April 2026, targeted terrorists concealed within fortified positions and bunkers. According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strike followed credible intelligence supported by Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which confirmed the presence of active terrorist elements in the area.
NAF air assets subsequently engaged the location with precision-guided munitions, destroying the structures, neutralising multiple fighters, and eliminating key logistics facilities. A post-strike Battle Damage Assessment confirmed the success of the mission.
The statement noted that sustained air operations have continued to degrade terrorist networks, leaving them increasingly exposed and forcing them into reactive and desperate actions under mounting pressure.
Reaffirming the Service’s commitment, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, said the NAF would maintain relentless, intelligence-driven operations until all terrorist elements are neutralised.
He emphasised that the Air Force remains committed to safeguarding national security, protecting its personnel, and ensuring the safety of citizens, while strictly adhering to rules of engagement and minimising civilian harm.
