The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa Oluyede, has extended warm Easter greetings to Christian faithful and personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, calling for renewed commitment to service, unity, and national security.
In a goodwill message to mark the 2026 Easter celebration, General Oluyede described Easter as a sacred season symbolising sacrifice, courage, hope, and the triumph of good over evil. He noted that these values align closely with the responsibilities of the military profession, emphasizing that true leadership and service are rooted in selflessness and unwavering dedication to a greater cause.
The Defence Chief paid tribute to fallen heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty, stating that their bravery and patriotism remain indelible in the nation’s history. He also commended wounded personnel and troops currently deployed across various theatres of operation for their resilience and steadfast commitment to safeguarding the country.
General Oluyede further stressed the importance of unity, faith, and collective resolve in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges. He urged members of the Armed Forces to remain vigilant, professional, and cooperative with other security agencies and communities in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
He also appreciated the families of military personnel, particularly those whose loved ones are on active duty during the festive period, acknowledging their sacrifices and support in boosting troop morale and operational success.
The Chief of Defence Staff called on all Nigerians to embrace a whole-of-society approach in the fight against terrorism, expressing confidence that with courage, faith, and cooperation, the nation will continue to achieve peace, security, and stability.
General Oluyede concluded by wishing all personnel of the Armed Forces, their families, and Nigerians at large a peaceful and blessed Easter celebration.
