The Honourable Minister of Defence, Retired General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has challenged graduates of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) to embrace innovation and technology in shaping the future of Nigeria’s defence and security sector.
The Minister gave the charge during the institution’s combined 2nd, 3rd and 4th convocation ceremony held in Kaduna, where degrees, diplomas and special prizes were awarded to deserving graduates. He was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary, Richard Pheelangwah.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Musa stressed the critical role of education and technological advancement in strengthening Nigeria’s defence architecture. He commended the graduates for their dedication and urged them to uphold discipline, professionalism and commitment as they transition into their respective careers.
He noted that the future of Nigeria’s technological development depends largely on the knowledge and skills acquired by the graduating students, describing them as vital to national security and overall progress.
The Minister further highlighted AFIT’s reputation for cutting-edge research and quality training, stating that the institution continues to produce highly skilled personnel who contribute significantly to the country’s defence capabilities.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commandant of AFIT, Adeniran Ademuwagun, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to remain committed to service, integrity and excellence as they begin a new phase of their professional lives.
The ceremony also featured the conferment of degrees, diplomas and awards on outstanding students across various disciplines.
