The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting internal security operations in Plateau State and the wider North Central region, following a courtesy visit by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, to the NAF Headquarters in Abuja.
Governor Mutfwang was received on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, DFS, during discussions aimed at strengthening civil-military cooperation and enhancing joint efforts to address evolving security challenges in the region.
In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Governor congratulated Air Marshal Aneke on his appointment as the 23rd Chief of the Air Staff and commended the NAF for its sustained operational support in Plateau State. He acknowledged the complex nature of the security environment, particularly the asymmetric threats confronting communities, and emphasised the importance of continuous collaboration, especially during festive and farming seasons.
Responding, Air Marshal Aneke reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to its Command Philosophy of building a highly motivated, professional, and mission-ready force capable of delivering decisive airpower effects in support of joint and inter-agency operations. He highlighted the Air Force’s ongoing contributions to peace and stability in Plateau State through intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions, air mobility support, and close coordination with sister services and other security agencies.
The Chief of the Air Staff expressed appreciation to the Plateau State Government for providing a conducive operating environment for NAF personnel, noting that the cooperation of state authorities and host communities remains critical to operational effectiveness and the achievement of lasting security outcomes.
Both parties agreed to further strengthen their partnership through enhanced training, capability development, and a whole-of-government approach to security. The engagement concluded with a shared commitment to sustaining peace, protecting lives and property, and supporting socio-economic development across Plateau State and the nation.
