The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has assured the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) of the theatre’s firm commitment to strengthening security cooperation and enhancing academic collaboration.

According to a statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the assurance was given on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, during a courtesy visit by the Vice-Chancellor of NAUB, Professor Lawal Bala Buratai, to the OPHK Headquarters in Maiduguri. The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Military), Colonel Yusuf Bello, and the Commanding Officer, Administrative Battalion NAUB, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Musa.

Professor Buratai said the visit was aimed at deepening engagement with the theatre command and exploring mutually beneficial areas of collaboration. He expressed appreciation for the warm reception and applauded the sacrifices, resilience, and sustained efforts of OPHK personnel in combating insecurity in Borno State and the North East.

He further highlighted the university’s academic offerings—including programmes in Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Security Management—and encouraged the participation of OPHK personnel to support capacity development within the command.

Responding, the Theatre Commander welcomed the NAUB delegation and emphasized the vital role of education in national development. He described NAUB as the “flagship university of the Nigerian Armed Forces” and reiterated the theatre’s commitment to safeguarding critical national assets, noting the strategic importance of the institution to ongoing operations.

Major General Abubakar assured the NAUB leadership of OPHK’s continued support and expressed readiness to take advantage of the proposed academic opportunities to enhance both operational and administrative efficiency across the theatre.

The visit ended with the signing of the Visitors’ Register, exchange of souvenirs, and a group photograph.
