AXION UNVEILS NEW WATERPROOFING PRODUCTS, PROMISES LASTING SOLUTION TO DAMPNESS IN BUILDINGS

Axion Group has introduced two new construction products—Axion Hydroshield Polybond and Axion Totalcrete Cement—designed to provide a durable solution to dampness, moisture intrusion and early deterioration in buildings.

The company announced that the products, developed with Canadian waterproofing technology, offer complete protection against water penetration, cracks, algae growth and rising damp on walls, floors and other building surfaces. The high-performance screeding materials are targeted at builders, contractors and homeowners grappling with persistent moisture-related defects such as peeling paints, mould growth and weakened structures.

According to Axion, Hydroshield Polybond forms a seamless waterproof barrier when applied during screeding, while the multipurpose Totalcrete Cement strengthens the screed layer, ensuring it remains dry and durable even in moisture-prone environments.

Speaking at the unveiling, the Group Chief Executive of Axion Nigeria, Dr. Oke Eze, urged professionals across the construction sector—including architects, engineers, developers and block makers—to adopt modern technologies capable of enhancing building integrity and longevity.

He attributed the increasing cases of dampness, cracks and early structural deterioration in the country to the use of substandard materials and outdated construction methods. “Hydroshield Polybond and Totalcrete Cement represent the future of waterproof construction in Nigeria. When people insist on the right products, we eliminate damp problems and improve the overall lifespan of our buildings,” he said.

Dr. Eze reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering science-driven solutions that reduce maintenance costs and protect buildings from long-term structural damage.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of CM Services Limited, Catherine Kadiri, described the launch of the Axion Innovative Construction Products as a significant milestone for the industry. She said the products address the day-to-day challenges faced by engineers, builders, artisans and technicians, especially harsh project-site conditions and recurring repair failures.

Kadiri noted that the new products offer better bonding, stronger protection and faster application timelines, enabling construction professionals to achieve improved efficiency and quality. She added that the solutions reflect a future where innovation and consistency become the new benchmarks for construction standards.

“Construction is changing. The future belongs to products that help us build strong roads, safe homes and lasting infrastructure,” she said. “Together, we are building better, building stronger and building a future we can all be proud of.”

The company said the new waterproof screeding system is poised to serve as a game-changer for Nigeria’s construction landscape, especially as demand rises for more durable housing and infrastructure across the country.
