The Headquarters, 8 Division Nigerian Army, has honoured four senior officers recently promoted from the rank of Colonel to Brigadier General in a colourful decoration ceremony held at the Eagle Officers’ Mess.
The ceremony was conducted by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander Sector 2, Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, who formally decorated the officers amid an atmosphere of pride and camaraderie.
In a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the event was described as a celebration of dedication, professionalism and exemplary service to the nation.
Addressing officers and guests at the ceremony, Major General Ajose congratulated the newly promoted Brigadier Generals, describing their elevation as a well-deserved milestone and a testament to their hard work, discipline and commitment to duty. He expressed pride in their achievements, noting that their promotions reflected not only individual excellence but also the strength and professionalism of the Nigerian Army. He further assured them of his readiness to serve alongside them in any future assignment.
The GOC also commended the families of the senior officers for their unwavering support, describing them as critical partners in the success of military careers.
Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Aboki Adamu expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for the promotion and appreciated Major General Ajose for his leadership and mentorship. He pledged, on behalf of his colleagues, to remain committed to selfless service, professionalism and the defence of the nation, while also acknowledging the vital role played by their spouses in their career journeys.
The officers decorated during the ceremony are Brigadier General Mansur Tijani, Deputy Chief of Staff Administration; Brigadier General Husaini Toro, Deputy Chief of Staff Operations; Brigadier General Abdulmalik Aboki Adamu, Commander 58 Signals Brigade; and Brigadier General David Chidozie Ibeh, Commander, 8 Division Medical Services and Hospital.
The ceremony featured formal decorations, goodwill messages from senior colleagues, and a reflective moment on the officers’ professional journey. It concluded with light refreshments and a group photograph.
