Headquarters 6 Division, Nigerian Army, has refuted a viral social media publication alleging internal power tussles, welfare neglect and financial exploitation within 90 Battalion, Koko, describing the claims as baseless and a deliberate attempt at institutional blackmail.

In a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, the Division said the allegations were being circulated by “online merchants” intent on maligning the command structure of the Battalion.

According to the statement, routine postings and deployments within the Nigerian Army are executed strictly in line with established professional procedures, without consideration for religion, personal loyalty or any other primordial sentiments, contrary to the claims in the publication.

Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma stressed that the suggestion that soldiers are assigned duties based on religious or loyalty considerations is not only false but malicious, urging the public to view it as a calculated attempt to blackmail the institution and its commanders.

He noted that the Nigerian Army maintains zero tolerance for corruption, welfare abuse, religious bias or any form of misconduct within its ranks. He further affirmed that the Commanding Officer of 90 Battalion has been carrying out his responsibilities professionally within available resources.

The Division also emphasized that there are established channels for addressing administrative complaints, adding that any personnel who bypass such structures for ulterior motives may be deemed to be engaging in acts of blackmail. Nonetheless, it reassured that any verified infraction, including allegations bordering on extortion, would be duly investigated.

The statement urged members of the public to disregard the unfounded claims and reiterated the commitment of 6 Division to ensuring the safety and security of residents of the Niger Delta region.
