Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have intensified clearance operations across Taraba State under the ongoing Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA, aimed at flushing out bandits and terrorist elements within their Area of Responsibility.
In a statement by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, the operation followed credible intelligence on the activities of bandits around Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages in Takum Local Government Area. Acting on the intelligence, troops on Friday, 31 October 2025, conducted a clearance patrol through Tor-Tser, Kofar Ahmadu, Tornyi, Unom, Mbayongo, and Yongogba villages, successfully clearing the identified locations and surrounding river lines.
During the operation, troops received fresh intelligence at Kofar Ahmadu village indicating the presence of bandits near TY Farm in Tati. Responding swiftly, the troops advanced through Sabon Gida Tati, where they made contact with the criminals. Overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower, the bandits fled into the forest.
On further exploitation, the troops discovered and destroyed a major bandits’ camp at TY Farm, effectively denying the criminals a safe haven. Items recovered from the site included one Dane gun and other materials used by the criminals.
The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their gallantry, professionalism, and prompt response during the operation.
He reaffirmed the Brigade’s unwavering commitment to ensuring peace and security across Taraba State, while urging residents to continue providing credible and timely information to support ongoing military operations.
