In a renewed effort to rid Taraba State of terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements, troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have recorded another operational success under the ongoing clearance operation “Operation Lafiya Nakowa.”
According to a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, on 14 October 2025, troops deployed at Tapga Ngasawa village under Dampar District of Ibi Local Government Area received credible intelligence on the locations of suspected terrorists operating around Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops launched a series of clearance operations in the identified areas. During the operation at Badekoshi, contact was established with the terrorists, prompting them to flee towards Fajul village near the forest. The gallant troops pursued the fleeing criminals with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and retreat deeper into the forest.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of the following items:
One (1) AK-47 rifle
One (1) AK-47 magazine
One (1) round of 7.62mm special ammunition
Five (5) rounds of blank ammunition
Two (2) fragmental jackets
Two (2) military camouflage uniforms
One (1) Jincheng motorcycle suspected to have been stolen during a previous attack in Tapga village
The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism, vigilance, and gallantry, urging them to sustain the offensive until all criminal enclaves are completely dismantled across Taraba State.
The Nigerian Army reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and will continue to work in synergy with other security agencies and local communities to ensure lasting peace and stability in the State.
