TROOPS OF OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA RESCUE KIDNAPPED VICTIMS IN KWARA STATE…Intensify Operations Against Insecurity in Kwara and Adjoining States

Troops of 2 Division/Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully rescued two kidnapped victims abducted from their residence in Efagi village, Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, in the early hours of Friday, 10 October 2025.

In a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin, Captain Stephen Nwankwo, the troops stationed at the Lafiagi Patrol Base swiftly responded upon receiving information about the abduction. Working in close collaboration with a local vigilante group, the troops tracked the kidnappers and engaged them in a fierce firefight. The superior firepower of the troops forced the criminals to flee, abandoning the victims.

Unfortunately, one soldier and a vigilante member sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter. They have since been evacuated to a medical facility for prompt treatment.

The rescued victims have been safely reunited with their families, while troops continue to comb the surrounding area to ensure total security and prevent further incidents.

The Commander, 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, commended the troops for their bravery, swift response, and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against all criminal elements in Kwara and neighbouring states.

General Barkins further called on residents to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible intelligence to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to rid the region of criminal activities.
