In a renewed commitment to improving the welfare and living conditions of troops, the Nigerian Army’s 1 Division has commissioned a newly constructed soldiers’ accommodation block at Ribadu Cantonment in Kaduna State, marking another step toward strengthening morale and operational readiness among personnel.

The newly completed facility was officially inaugurated on Friday, March 6, 2026, as soldiers were formally “marched-in” to occupy the modern accommodation built under the initiative of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu.

According to a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Jemasu Yake Jingina, the project is part of the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy and the “Soldier First Culture,” which places troop welfare at the heart of operational effectiveness.

Representing the General Officer Commanding 1 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Sadique Muhammad Wase, the Commanding Officer of the Administration Battalion, 1 Division Garrison, Lieutenant Colonel R.O. Ejoor, addressed the beneficiaries and underscored the importance of maintaining the facility.

Lieutenant Colonel Ejoor urged the soldiers to cultivate a strong maintenance culture, warning against illegal electricity connections or any activities capable of damaging the newly built structure. He stressed that any personnel found engaging in actions that could lead to the deterioration of the state-of-the-art facility would face appropriate sanctions.

The General Officer Commanding also conveyed his appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for prioritising welfare-focused infrastructure, noting that such initiatives play a crucial role in sustaining the fighting efficiency and psychological readiness of troops deployed across various theatres of operation nationwide.

The ceremony ended with the formal presentation of keys to the soldiers, symbolising their official transition into the new accommodation and the Nigerian Army’s continued commitment to improving the living standards of its personnel.
